Ryarsh Rural Community Council and local villagers have been working hard over the last few months to put on a village fete. After a fantastic effort and overwhelming repsonse we can now confirm that the Ryarsh Village Summer Fete will be on Saturday 26th June at the Ryarsh Village recreation ground from 1.30pm - 5.30pm. With many fantastic stalls and events in place, it's set to be a great occasion with something for all the family to enjoy. We hope to see you there!
Family fun for family fortunes
Kent residents can win a trip to Disneyland Paris by taking part in a national week aimed at bringing families closer together.
During the summer half-term (Monday 31 May to Sunday 6 June), National Family Week will be running across the country. The week aims to highlight the important role families play in society and encourage healthy active lifestyles and quality family time.
Kent County Council is organising a competition for every day of the week. To take part, tell us what you have been doing on any one of these days to be in with a chance of winning a variety of prizes. There will then be a grand prize draw to win a short break at Disneyland Paris for up to six members of a family.
KCC's Children, Families and Education Managing Director Rosalind Turner said:
"National Family Week is a good opportunity to spend time together and have fun. There is so much to see and do in Kent and this is a great chance to enjoy a range of activities and sights on your doorstep. I hope everyone has a fantastic time taking part."
Each day of the week sees a different theme for families to enjoy together. They are:
Healthy Picnic Day on Monday 31 May
Enter your photographs, draw a picture or write an account (or all three) of your family having fun for a chance to win a family pass to Leeds Castle.
Film Day on Tuesday 1 June
Watch a U (Universal), PG (Parental Guidance) or 12a film together and tell us what you enjoyed about it for your chance to win family tickets to the Odeon Cinema and meal vouchers for Frankie and Benny's Restaurant.
Story Time on Wednesday 2 June
Share a story as a family and tell us all about it. The best entry will win a £250 book token.
Family Week Road Trip on Thursday 3 June
Visit somewhere new in Kent. Tell us about the place you choose and/or send in photographs. The winning family will get a day out at Port Lympne Zoo Park.
House or Street Party on Friday 4 June
Hold a family - or even a street party. Tell us about it and/or send in your photographs for your chance to win family tickets to the Hop Farm.
Games Day on Saturday 5 June
We want you to get out and get active today. How about a family sports day or a trip to the park. Tell us about it and/or send in your photographs for your chance to win a family outing to an AMF Bowling Alley.
As well as daily prizes, each family taking part in multiple activities (and telling us about it), will be entered in to a grand prize draw for the Disneyland Paris holiday for up to six people. Prizes are funded by the grant Kent County Council receives from Government.
Please send in photographs, drawings and/or written accounts of what you as a family have been up to on any one of these days. Competition closes on Friday 18 June 2010.
